New Forest High Mountain Two Band 2204

Successor to the highly acclaimed New Forest 2201, this brush has a firm backbone and soft tips much favoured by shavers who like to face lather with soaps. The soft tips make it very comfortable on the face when used with circular scrubby motions. It's also fine with creams for face or bowl lathering.

The knot is 22mm, with a loft of 50mm and a handle height of 50mm and diameter of 34mm.

Price is £37 including worldwide delivery. To order, use the link below:

  1. I'm debating whether to get this or the 2213 for my husband. He is a hard soap user and a face latherer and would like something softer than the cheap intro brush he was given as a gift but still likes the brush to exfoliate and lift a bit.

  2. Both brushes will be fine. The 2213 is softer. The 2204 will give a more exfoliating massage during the application of the lather. They are both very popular brushes!

  3. Hey there! I can clearly see that you deeply get the sense of what you are telling about here. Do you a special education that is somehow associated with the topic of the blog post? Can't wait to hear from you.

  4. I'm really just drawing a distinction between a scrubbing brush and say a polishing brush. Not that it strictly applies to the 2204 and a 2213. The former will simply give more exfoliation because it has firmer hair.

  5. Which of your brushes would you recommend for soaps (Tabac). I already have a brush I am fine with for creams, but it is not the best for soaps. I also generally bowl/scuttle lather. I am leaning toward the 2204 based on what I see here, but would appreciate your input.

  6. The New Forest 2204 is a popular mid size choice. It it the same hair that is used in the Tubby 1 and Tubby 2 brushes, they have 24mm and 26mm knots respectively. The two band hair I use is the very best available and it's very popular among shavers who like to face lather with soaps. But it is equally effective with creams. I have no firm favourite - I use all my own New Forest brushes and enjoy them all!

  7. Amazed!!! Now I can understand how is to shave with an excellent in every aspect shaving brush! I have never before had such a thick and cushioned lather from triple milled soaps. All my previous years I was using expensive “painting” brushes to face lather…Very well done Fido…excellent product. Thanks and regards, Panagiotis Georgakis

  8. Hi Fido,
I'm looking for a badger brush with a very firm backbone. I'm currently using a pure grey badger Plisson but it seems to me very floppy.
I'd like to have a badger brush with a backbone similar to my Semogue 1520.
Would it be NF 2204 the right choice for me? (I'm a face lathering using soaps)

  9. Picked mine up from the post office this morning and couldn't wait to use it so had an afternoon shave. Lovely brush and a big step up from my previous one. Thanks very much, Peter.
